Background:
Over the past two decades, we have observed remarkable strides in the realm of crop epigenetics, particularly with respect to technological advancements and mechanical understandings of epigenetic regulation. These advancements have certainly underscored the pivotal role of epigenetic mechanisms in guiding developmental trajectories and facilitating environmental adaptation in crops. This includes, but is not limited to, withstanding drought conditions, temperature fluctuations, infections by pathogenic bacteria, and other forms of stress. By modulating gene expression patterns without altering the underlying DNA sequence, epigenetic mechanisms allow plants to swiftly and dynamically respond to these environmental perturbations.
Issue Scope/Topics:
The journal of aBIOTECH is pleased to announce that it will publish a special issue on “Epigenetic regulation and its applications in crop improvement”. In this special issue, we plan to publish review articles and research articles covering the following topics, but are not limited to:
DNA methylation and histone modifications in epigenetic regulation, and in crop genetic improvement
Epigenetic regulation of agronomic traits in crops
Epigenetic regulation of plant growth and development
Epigenetic regulation in plant biotic and abiotic stresses
Precise epigenome editing/epigenome editing tools
Epigenetic reprogramming
Interplay between epigenetics and epitranscriptomics
